PROGRAM SCHEDULE:
Day 1 – August 15th, 2025 – Friday
The journey begins with an overnight coach ride to southern Croatia, arriving in Sinj in the early morning hours. Upon arrival, there will be time to enjoy a morning coffee and breakfast at the hotel. The Feast of the Assumption begins in a festive and reverent atmosphere – with participation in the solemn procession carrying the image of Our Miraculous Lady of Sinj, followed by a celebratory Mass held on the square behind the church. This deeply spiritual event draws pilgrims from across Croatia and beyond. After the religious celebrations, there will be free time for lunch and a short rest. Afterward, check-in at the centrally located Hotel Alkar is planned, followed by a time for rest. Later in the afternoon, a guided walking tour of Sinj is planned, offering an insight into the town’s rich history and cultural heritage. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 2 – August 16th, 2025 – Saturday
After breakfast, the day may begin with an optional climb to the Old Fortress (Stari Grad), offering breath-taking views over Sinj and its surroundings — a peaceful moment ideal for prayer and reflection at this symbolic site. The program continues with a visit to the Museum of Sinjska Alka, where participants will discover the history and significance of the Alka – a unique knightly tournament under UNESCO protection. This is followed by a visit to the Alka stables, where the deep bond between horse and rider is preserved. After a break for lunch and relaxation, a traditional local “marenda” (light meal) will be served on the banks of the River Cetina – a perfect opportunity to enjoy regional flavours in a natural setting. In the evening, the group will return to the shrine of Our Lady of Sinj to attend Mass and spend quiet time in personal prayer and contemplation. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 3 – August 17th, 2025 – Sunday
The final day begins with breakfast and check-out from the hotel. The program continues with Sunday Mass at the shrine – a spiritual culmination of the Sinj pilgrimage. After the liturgy, participants will visit the Museum of the Cetina Region and take a short walk to the Kamičak Fortress, perched on a hill above the town, offering panoramic views and a sense of peace. Before departure, there will be free time for lunch and one last opportunity to enjoy the unique spiritual and cultural atmosphere of Sinj. In the afternoon, the return journey to Zagreb begins, with arrival expected in the evening.
