PROGRAM SCHEDULE:
Day 1 – August 15th, 2025 – Friday
The journey begins with an overnight coach ride to southern Croatia, arriving in Sinj in the early morning hours. Upon arrival, there will be time to enjoy a morning coffee and breakfast at the hotel. The Feast of the Assumption begins in a festive and reverent atmosphere – with participation in the solemn procession carrying the image of Our Miraculous Lady of Sinj, followed by a celebratory Mass held on the square behind the church. This deeply spiritual event draws pilgrims from across Croatia and beyond. After the religious celebrations, there will be free time for lunch and a short rest. Afterward, check-in at the centrally located Hotel Alkar is planned, followed by a time for rest. Later in the afternoon, a guided walking tour of Sinj is planned, offering an insight into the town’s rich history and cultural heritage. Dinner at the hotel. The day can end with an optional climb to the Old Town fortress, which offers a beautiful view of the Sinj area – an ideal opportunity for evening prayer and silence in a place symbolic of Sinj’s history. Overnight stay.
Day 2 – August 16th, 2025 – Saturday
After breakfast, check-out from the hotel follows. Then there will be Mass and prayer at the Sanctuary. This will be followed by a visit to the Sinjska Alka Museum, where participants can learn about the tradition of the Alka – a unique knightly tournament under UNESCO protection. Next, there will be a visit to the nearby village of Dicmo for a tour of the Rera Theme Park, followed by a visit to the Alkar Stud Farm, which nurtures Sinj’s traditional connection between people and horses. The program continues with an authentic snack along the banks of the Cetina River – a perfect moment to enjoy local flavors and socializing in nature. The evening is reserved for a visit to the Church of St. Spas and the source of the Cetina River near Vrlika. Afterwards, the return to Zagreb will follow, with arrival in the evening hours.
