Vodnjan and The Feast of St. Foška
Spend a winter weekend in Istria and immerse yourself in the colours, flavours, and impressions of tradition and Christian heritage. Visit Pula, a city with a rich ancient history and architecture. Then, head to Vodnjan, a place that hides the most numerous sacral treasure in Europe and the best olive oil in the world.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE:
Day 1 – February 15th, 2025 – Saturday
Departure from Zagreb around 6 AM. Drive towards Pula with stop along the way. Upon arrival, guided city tour and free time for coffee and lunch on your own. Early afternoon, head towards Vodnjan and check in at a four-star hotel. After a short rest, visit a local olive grove with a view of the Brijuni Islands for a guided tour, tasting, and the opportunity to purchase world-class olive oil. Then, attend Mass at the parish church of Saint Blaž in Vodnjan. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 – February 16th, 2025 – Sunday
Breakfast. Check out from the hotel. Around 9 AM, gather in the centre of Vodnjan and embark on a pilgrimage to the Basilica of Saint Foška for the celebration of Holy Mass at 12 PM. After the Mass, there is the opportunity to explore the nearby site “Three Kažuni,” followed by socialising and a meal in a nearby meadow. Afterward, visit the parish church of Saint Blaž for a guided tour of the rich sacral treasures of Vodnjan. Return to Zagreb in the evening.
